The Volkswagen Group, with its headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany, is the fourth largest automobile manufacturer in the world and the largest carmaker in Europe. In 2007, the Group sold 6.189 million vehicles worldwide, increasing deliveries year-on-year by 7.9 percent. This was the first time in our history that over 6 million vehicles were delivered to customers.
The Group operates 46 production plants in 12 European countries and a further six countries in the Americas, Asia and Africa. Around the world, almost 325,000 employees produce more than 24,500 vehicles or are involved in vehicle related services. The Volkswagen Group sells its vehicles in more than 150 countries.
