Seat Covers Research Guide
Why Should I Buy A Set Of Seat Covers?
One of the great on-the-road ironies is that while you're sitting comfortably in your vehicle, the seat itself has to undergo a tremendous amount of abuse. Dirty clothes, wet swimsuits, spilt drinks, kids snacking in the backseat, slobbering pets, seat friction and harsh sunlight all have the ability to ruin and wear out your great looking seats. And if already your seats have met with a terrible accident like a leaky pen or a chocolate stain, or maybe they have been ripped open by your dear little pooch, a complete reupholster will cost you dearly.
The days of worrying about permanently staining your automobile seats or of being embarrassed by ripped, tattered and unkempt upholstery are close to being over. With the right set of seat covers, you'll be able to:
- Protect your upholstery from a dizzying array of hazards
- Cover over existing damage rather than having to reupholster your seats
- Make over your interior to suit your tastes and lifestyle
Seat Cover Protection Reference
Without your even imagining it, there are a few areas in your vehicle, which have to continually face loads of abuse. The carpets get constantly trampled by dirty shoes, the steering wheel is continually throttled by oily hands and most of all, the seats have to face various kinds of abuse. The only practical way to protect your seats is to dress it in a set of great looking automobile seat covers.
Your automobile seats face a number of perils, including:
Moisture
Moisture can ruin your great looking seats any time, whether it is leather or cloth. Moisture can be the biggest enemy of your gorgeous looking seats. When water seeps into factory-installed fabrics, it can fester and grow into ugly, stinky, disgusting mold. Our seat covers come in a variety of materials that can help your seats from water and moisture, because of their amazing water resistance qualities.
Kids and Pets
Kids can be really cute, more so when they are eating their favorite chocolate cakes or ice-cream. But now just imagine the same kid smearing his favorite dessert all over your seats; looks like a nightmare, isn’t it? The same goes for your furry, four-legged co-pilot. Not only does slobber leave white-bordered saliva stains, hair clings to everything and is a nightmare to remove. Their sharp little claws can tear open your car seats, especially leather. But the right set of seat covers will protect your seats from the accidents that children and pets inevitably create.
Friction
While getting in and out of your vehicle may seem like a harmless operation, it is in fact, putting a lot of stress on your seats. This constant friction between your body and your seat steadily grinds away at your upholstery. With time, leather or fabric starts to lose its strength and eventually becomes threadbare, torn and split. Of course, this pitiful fate can easily be avoided with a quality set of seat covers.
UV Damage
Ultra violet rays are the electromagnetic waves of light that are emitted by the sun in large quantities and are invisible to the human eye. It is mostly filtered out by the atmosphere. But what does get through, though is harmful to our skin as well as to the automobile upholstery. It ruins the color of the upholstery, whether it is cloth or leather.
A Guide to Covering Your Damaged Seats
Sometimes bad things happen to good upholstery. If the interior of your vehicle has suffered some cruel twist of fate (a leaky pen left lying in the backseat, or a torn seam that's threatening to unravel completely), you have the ability to rejuvenate your vehicle's seats without having to go through the hassle of a complete reupholster job. Simply slide a new set of seat covers directly over the old ones and they will be as good as new. No muss, no fuss-just great looking seat covers that fit like a glove.
There are three different fitting seat covers, a custom fit, semi-custom fit and universal fit. Let's take a closer look at the benefits you get with each style.
Custom Fit Seat Covers
Custom seat covers are meticulously designed for a precise fit over your seats. They are custom made, and they can in fact rival even the factory installed original upholstery. A custom-fit seat cover does not obstruct any special function or feature housed in your seat body, so you’ll be just as secure as before, only with better looking and better protected upholstery.
Semi-Custom Fit Seat Covers
On the other hand, a semi custom seat cover provides a fit that is only 80% as good as a custom seat cover. It also does not provide access to special features or function provided with your seat.
Universal Seat Covers
Universal seat covers will fit any low back or high back bucket seat. They should never be used on seats with side impact air bags and other special features and functions which are now provided with many vehicles. Universal seat covers never offer complete protection and are thus not recommended.
